Welcome to our website which celebrates the enjoyment which our ponies have given us since the early beginnings of the stud in 1969. Over the years we have worked hard to reach our goal of breeding a Welsh Section B Pony that is a suitable ride for a child coupled with a superb temperament which makes being in their company a pleasure. The sum of conformation, quality and movement has guided us over the past thirty nine years to reach the type of pony we are breeding today.

From Holland............to Wales................and now to Australia
STEEHORST KYRO (OS) 74215
Kyro
has arrived safely at the
Weston Park Stud, Victoria, Australia,
as the property of
Dr. Richard and Mrs. Janet Evans.

After much deliberation Steehorst Kyro is about to embark on the next leg of his international journey. Bred originally in Holland by Piet Steeghs he was imported to Wales as a foal by John and Glenys Davies of Rhoson. This summer he was selected by Janet and Dick Evans of the world famous Weston Park Stud as the next sire for their Victoria based stud in Australia. Kyro is believed to be the first ever Dutch bred Welsh Pony stallion to be exported to Australia.

Since winning the Royal Welsh Youngstock Championship as a three year old Kyro, now six years old, has been used exclusively at Rhoson and leaves five females as future broodmares; and four mares to foal down in 2009.

"I have watched his progress on each of my visits to the UK and I'm thrilled to be able to bring in such a true to type young sire to Australia. I never thought I would be able to get him " said a delighted Janet.
It
is almost thirty years since the stud of Weston ponies left the UK, the
nucleus of which has had an immense influence on Welsh pony breeding in the
southern hemisphere. Steehorst Kyro will be used over the Weston Park mares
by Eyarth Sama, who himself was imported by the stud from Wales some ten years
ago.
This will consolidate lines tracing back to the illustrious Weston Choice. Prior to leaving Wales, Sama produced the Royal Welsh Champion and current Royal International ridden winner Rhoson Shem who will return home to Pembrokeshire to cover Kyro's daughters.

Pob lwc Kyro bach - Good luck

News of
RHOSON SHEM
HORSE & HOUND
"Jonathon Stevens and Rhoson Shem produced a lovely show to clinch the £1000 Top Spec ridden championship..........at the peak of the gales that battered the showground all day, John Davies's section B stallion rose to the occasion and remained rock solid, even when the adjacent catering tent almost took flight and had to be evacuated. He grew three inches when the tent blew, but he was spot on everywhere, said Jonathon. Rhoson Shem's manners and extravagant movement impressed judges Linda Brudenell and Margaret Furness. This pony has three good paces and a lovely way of going, said Margaret. He never put a foot wrong in difficult conditions."
